The Cornwall'98 Venue Directory
1.1 Aims
The Venue Directory For Cornwall 98 seeks to address the 3 core aims of CORNWALL 98 - World Watersports Festival.
- To increase awareness of the excellent watersporting facilities in Cornwall, both for the enthusiast and the tourist.
- To promote tourism in the region during 1998, augmenting visitor numbers by 10%.
- To facilitate the provision of infrastructure necessary for participation in quality watersports all around the County. This infrastructure will be utilised before, during and after Cornwall 98 .
1.2 The Role of the Venue Directory
This Venue Directory is designed to be a useful guide to watersports facilities within the County of Cornwall.
There are already many area and tourist guides of this nature on the market, however this guide was compiled with specific reference to venues and their suitability for hosting watersporting events.
As Cornwall 98 has specific aims to increase tourism in 1998, a general section on tourism in Cornwall has been included, showing how events such as CORNWALL 98 can help to enhance visitor numbers and spend.
The Venue Directory has been designed to help event organisers to plan the best time and place to stage an event, depending on their sports specific requirements, possibly opening up new avenues to organisers unfamiliar with Cornwalls facilities.
The key role of the document is therefore to provide interested parties with the planning knowledge they require, related to all watersports facilities and services throughout the County.
Subsidiary roles include applications for use by local government, sports associations, both national and local, education bodies and businesses considering a move into the Cornish tourism and watersports industry.
Finally, this document also serves to highlight areas for development and improvement of facilities, services and support.
