Welcome to Newquay
At NEWQUAY, the Atlantic rollers have combined with the
Gulf Stream to create a rugged riviera of cliff, cave, rock
pool and soft, golden sand. It stretches for seven miles,
this beach paradise, drawing all ages and interests like a
magnet and making this one-time fishing village Cornwall's
premier resort.
Here, Spring comes early and Summer stays so late that Autumn
and Winter are more months than seasons. You can pick up a
tan in October and a bouquet of wild flowers in January. And
there is so much you can do... circular walks to discover in
and around the town, eleven beaches to explore, a full range
of water sports for beginner and champion alike and an
excellent golf course too. With a vast choice of all year
round accommodation available, Newquay is the perfect place
to relax, unwind and enjoy anytime, any season.
Children love Newquay; there is so much novelty, excitement
and choice, so many friends to play with - and so much space
to play in. If one beach becomes too familiar there are 10
more to try. If sand and sea lose their attraction, there are
countless caves and rock pools to explore and if that fails,
there are a number of attractions in town or close by. For
example the 26 acres of Trenance Leisure Park comprise the
heated and covered 25m pool and 60 m flume of Waterworld, the
famous Animal World and Conservation Centre and the Park
itself - a blaze of sub-tropical colour. The lush green and
rich reds of Trenance Gardens vividly proclaim Newquay's
southern latitude and balmy climate.
Every type of accommodation is available, from luxury hotels
to guest houses, caravans, chalets and country cottages.
Evening entertainment is usually provided in the larger
hotels and there is a small theatre, night clubs and discos.
The resort's situation in the centre of the north coast of
Cornwall makes it an ideal touring centre for the county.
The motorway system feeding into the M5 brings traffic
swiftly to Exeter, where a choice of routes presents itself -
A38 or A30. The A30 is now virtually all dual carriageway,
which runs directly from the M5 to within 12 miles of
Newquay.
