Newquay - Absolutely Fabulous!
Acres of Fun..........
Much more than a garden, it's ...
They call Trenance a park, but really it's a whole world of leisure and fun, thrills, spills and fascination: 26 acres of lush, sub-tropical colour interspersed with Cornwall's only zoo, a massive water attraction and a seemingly endless catalogue of activities for all ages and weathers.
A five-minute stroll from the centre of town will bring you to the entrance and the only hard part of your visit, Choosing. What will it be first? A ride on the miniature railway , a battery car - or a real horse? A round of crazy golf or some practice for the real thing on Trenance's driving range? A game of squash or tennis, or messing about on the boating lake- followed by a restorative tea at the Lakeside Cafe.
Been there? Done that? You 've hardly started - and you haven 't lived till you 've taken on the giant 60m flume at Waterworld. There's a fun-pool for kids, a superb 25m pool with a 3.5m deep-end for serious swimmers and divers, and a new fitness centre staffed by instructors trained to help all levels of ability. In the evenings, from July, a programme of alternating live acts, junior disco and brass band make waterworld a day and night family entertainment centre.
At Trenance you either make your own wild life or watch it,at the unique Newquay Zoo which breeds and cares for many of the world's most endangered species. Here, in a day, you can trek through the rain-forests of Brazil, the plains of Africa and the jungles of Asia; learn first-hand from the keepers and handle some of the animals. There's an activity farm, a maze, play and picnic areas. You will never forget the experience - and the kids will keep dragging you back for more.
All the interest and excitement a child can handle.
child's Play
Children love Newquay: there is so much novelty, excitement and choice, so many new friends to play with - and so much space to play in. If one beach becomes too familiar, there are 10 more to try. If sand and sea lose their attraction, there are countless caves and rockpools to explore - and if all that palls, there are a number of attractions in town or close by.
IN TOWN
For children up to 12, The Fun Factory serves up thrills, spills and ice cream seven days a week, while a short drive up Cliff Road takes you to the Blue Lagoon Leisure Centre which features a giant pool, flumes and rapids, together with ten-pin bowling and a fast-food diner.
The 26-acres of Trenance Leisure Park comprise the heated and covered 25m pool and 60m flume of Waterworld, Newquay Zoo and Conservation Centre and the Park itself - a blaze of sub-tropical colour round a boating lake, toboggans, battery-operated self-drive cars and a miniature railway as well as adult sports facilities.
OUT OF TOWN
Out of town, there is so much choice the problem is deciding what to do next - and where you will find the time.
JUST A DRIVE AWAY-FROM ALL THESE ATTRACTIONS
And that is just the immediate vicinity. If you are prepared to travel a little further, the choice and excitement multiplies: For example there is Paradise Park at Hayle, with its wonderful world of wildlife in splendid Victorian gardens.
Within half an hour's drive, there is the beautiful Elizabethan manor house and gardens of Trerice - Dairyland, where children can meet and handle farm animals and, at Goonhavern, the perfect scale models of World in Miniature . Railway fans will love Mevagissey's World of Model Railways and the real-life experience of Lappa Valley Steam railway at St Newlyn East.
